چکیده
This paper offers an overview of the challenges and opportunities presented by high dynamic range (HDR) imaging. We examine the length of the imaging pipeline, from creation and storage through image editing and viewing, and discuss how each stage is affected by a move to HDR.

2 16 shades of gray : high bit - depth projection using light intensity control
Projectors create grayscale images by outputting a series of bitplanes or binary images within a short time period. While this technique works well for projecting low bit-depth (8-bit) images, it becomes infeasible for high bit-depth (say, 16-bit) projection — a capability that is increasingly desirable in many applications including cinemas and gaming. Existing designs for high bit-depth proje...
متن کاملColor in High Dynamic Range Imaging
The human eye can accommodate luminance in a single view over a range of about 10,000:1 and is capable of distinguishing about 10,000 colors at a given brightness. By comparison, typical computer monitors have a luminance range less than 100:1 and cover about half of the visible color gamut. Despite this difference, most digital image formats are geared to the capabilities of conventional displ...

This year, at Electronic Imaging 2010, will be held for the second time, as part of the "Color Imaging XV: Displaying, Hardcopy, Processing, and Applications" conference, the special session entitled, "Dark Side of Color". This session aims at introducing innovative thinking, and discussion from experts working in a wide range of disciplines related with color, to foster ideas and stimulate abo...
متن کاملHigh-flux ptychographic imaging using the new 55 µm-pixel detector ‘Lambda’ based on the Medipix3 readout chip
Suitable detection systems that are capable of recording high photon count rates with single-photon detection are instrumental for coherent X-ray imaging. The new single-photon-counting pixel detector ‘Lambda’ has been tested in a ptychographic imaging experiment on solar-cell nanowires using Kirkpatrick– Baez-focused 13.8 keV X-rays. Taking advantage of the high count rate of the Lambda and dy...
